Outages and meters
For anything about the wires at a 76070 address, contact TNMP: outages, meter reads, and connections for move-ins and switches.
Report outages to TNMP at 1-888-866-7456 or on tnmp.com. TNMP restores power for everyone in its area, whichever provider they pay.
Your meter’s ESI ID stays the same when you switch. Smart Meter Texas shows your use in 15-minute intervals, so you can pick a plan by your real use.
Your new provider sends the order and TNMP switches or connects the meter on its end. No second meter and no outage for a switch.
Outages and service requests go to TNMP, not your provider. Billing questions go to your provider.

Moving
76070 is in Nemo. TNMP runs the meters here, and you pick the provider: choose a plan for your new address and a start date, and TNMP turns the meter on.
In some apartment and condo buildings the owner buys electricity for the whole building and bills tenants for it, and then you don’t pick a provider. Ask the leasing office before you shop.
Every unit has its own meter ID, called an ESI ID. The provider finds it from your address and unit number, so a wrong unit can start service on the wrong meter.
Each provider sets its own cutoff for same-day and next-day starts, so enroll a few days ahead if you can.
A provider can ask for a deposit if you can’t show satisfactory credit. Texas rules count you as having it if you’re 65 or older and not behind on an electric bill, or if you’ve been certified as a victim of family violence (PUCT §25.478). Prepaid plans don’t take a deposit (§25.498).
Moving ends your plan with no cancellation fee if you give your provider a forwarding address and, if it asks, proof that you’ve moved (PUCT §25.475). Set the stop date so you don’t pay for two homes.
Apartments often use less than 1,000 kWh a month. At 500 kWh the lowest 12-month flat plan in 76070 is 16.4¢ per kWh, about $82 a month (APGE True Simple 12). The lowest bill-credit plan shows 9.4¢ at 1,000 kWh but costs 22.7¢ at 500 kWh, about $113.

Explained
Texas-New Mexico Power Company (TNMP) is the transmission and distribution utility (TDU) that owns the poles, wires and meter for ZIP 76070. It delivers power, reads the meter and restores outages, whichever provider you pick. The retail electric provider (REP) sells the kilowatt-hours: it sets the price per kWh, runs billing and files each plan’s Electricity Facts Label with the PUCT. 17 providers offer plans in 76070 today, which is why prices differ even though the wires are the same. When you switch, only the company on your bill changes.
The headline price on most comparison sites is the price at exactly 1,000 or 2,000 kWh. APGE SimpleSaver 9 shows 9.4¢ at 1,000 kWh because a $125 bill credit applies at 1,000+ kWh. In a 500 kWh month the same plan is 22.7¢. The plan list on this page prices every plan at the usage you pick. For your own 12 months, upload a bill to the bill analyzer.
Three steps. Pick a plan by its price at your usage. Enroll online: Compare Power takes your name, service address and a credit check. Then TNMP switches you on its end: no second meter, no outage. If you are under contract, check your current plan’s cancellation fee first.
