How to grade your bill in 30 seconds
Find two numbers on your bill. Type them in. See your grade. That's it.
Open your latest bill
Paper, email PDF, or your provider's app — any current statement works. Set it next to you (or open it in another window).
Paper bill
Email PDF
Provider's app
Any of these. Doesn't matter which.
Find the total amount due
Usually near the top of the bill, in bold. Look for the label.
👉 What you'll see
A label like "Total amount due", "Amount due by [date]", or just "Total". The dollar amount next to it is what you'll type into the tool.
Find your kWh used
Scroll to the usage section. Different label, same idea — how much electricity you used this month.
👉 What you'll see
A label like "Total energy used", "kWh used this period", or "Total kWh". The number next to it (usually 500–3,000) is what you'll type in.
Type both into the tool
Open the Bill Grade tool, enter your ZIP, then the two numbers. Press the green button.

👉 What happens next
The tool checks every plan available in your ZIP, calculates your effective rate, and assigns a grade (A–F). You'll see exactly how much you'd save by switching to the cheapest plan. About 3 seconds.
