They're the new kid going after Green Mountain's turf with lower prices and better tech. Based in Houston, Rhythm has grown quickly by actually delivering on the "no hidden fees" promise that other providers make and break. Every plan is 100% renewable—they don't even offer non-green options. In April 2025, they acquired and relaunched the Energy Texas brand, expanding their customer base.

Rhythm keeps plans simple and green. Everything is 100% renewable, sourced from Texas wind and solar. No fossil fuel options exist. Fixed Rate Plans: Standard 12-month terms with flat-rate pricing. No complex usage tiers, no bill credits to qualify for. Your rate at 500 kWh is your rate at 2000 kWh. Solar Buyback: If you have rooftop solar, Rhythm offers competitive buyback rates for excess generation—a feature most budget providers skip. Month-to-Month: Variable rate option for customers who want flexibility without long-term commitment. The "Test Drive" guarantee lets first-time customers cancel within 30 days with no ETF—and they'll reimburse up to $150 of your previous provider's cancellation fee.

Rhythm rates typically run 10.5¢ to 12.5¢ per kWh—not the absolute cheapest, but competitive for 100% renewable plans. They're usually cheaper than Green Mountain and close to Gexa's renewable rates. The pricing structure is genuinely transparent: no bill credits that evaporate if you use less than some threshold, no tiered rates that jump at usage boundaries. What's advertised is what you pay. Their $100 early termination fee is lower than most competitors. Combined with the 30-day Test Drive, the switching risk is minimal. Where Rhythm falls short on pure price: budget providers like Frontier and Discount Power often beat them by 1-2¢ per kWh. You're paying a small premium for renewable energy and better customer experience.
